Services in the spotlight: Domiciliary Care

In recent years society has started to move away from the traditional idea of residential care homes being used to provide care for their loved ones, instead opting for the provision of Domiciliary Care packages (also known as home care). These care packages allow the individual to stay at home in familiar surroundings, and to maintain as much independence as possible, which as we know, is so important to both mental and physical wellbeing.
Domiciliary care is great option for most people, but is especially helpful for those who get easily disoriented in new environments.
Here at Essex Care Group we are happy to be able to provide this important service.
How does domiciliary care work?
When we receive a request for a home care package our first step is to visit the individual and complete a “no-obligation” thorough assessment of the individuals care needs, and risk assess the environment. We do this to ensure we can provide safe and suitable support that meets the individuals requirements. If both parties are happy to go ahead we then formulate a care plan and start the care package.
Care staff attend the individuals home during pre-arranged time slots, whilst there they see to all the individuals care needs as detailed in their care plan. This may include tasks such as assisting with getting in or out of bed, help with washing/bathing, accessing toilet facilities, getting dressed, meal preparation, and assisting with medication. In some cases domestic duties may be included in the care package.
Because we understand everyone has different needs we tailor our care packages to the individual, wether that means a visit once or twice a week, or several times a day. Depending on the level of assistance required we can provide either a single staff member, or a team of two care staff for each visit.
What are the benefits of domiciliary care?
As well as the obvious benefits of being in your own surroundings, this type of care package also bring peace of mind to relatives, knowing that their loved ones are being regularly checked on.
